THE PUPPIES ARE HERE!!! Individual pictures soon:-)
Bernedoodles come in an exciting and different mix of coats and colors! Since they are originally a hybrid mix of a Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle the differences are not easily predictable. We think that is part of what makes them even more interesting and adorable. It's also what makes their personalities so incredibly perfect!
Tri-Colored: These are the the beautiful pups that take on the black, brown, and white colors of the Bernese Mountain Dog. Their markings are unique and usually have accented facial markings.
Tuxedo: These adorable pups are usually mostly black, with what looks like a white vest on their chest. When groomed properly they are quite the fancy looking dog, and we kept one from our first litter.
Merle: These coats captivate people, due to the variation of color and pattern that is never the same on any two pups. They can come in many marble like patterns of color from gray merles, red merles, chocolate merles, and even golden merles. They are definitely a stand out among the different coats.
Black: We have never had a solid black coat, but we came close this time. one of our females only has a tiny white sort of diamond shaped spot under her chin. All black is very striking!
As for coats they can be as straight and silky as a Bernese Mountain Dog to almost as curly as the Poodle, or somewhere in between. There is also such a thing as "furnished" or "unfurnished". Furnished means they will have the longer thicker coat that you normally see when you think of a Bernedoodle. Unfurnished means that their coat will remain shorter, and not have the same look as the other puppies.
We found out after the first litter that statistically you will probably have one "unfurnished" in each litter of F2 Bernedoodles. If you go back and look at the pictures of our previous litter you will see that it was Avery. However, her family is thrilled with her because she requires very little grooming, but she has the same sweet, playful, and loving temperament of all Bernedoodles. It is too soon for us to figure out which one, if any, of this litter is "unfurnished" yet.
Two other things I want to mention about the coat of this amazing breed, and again I can only speak from experience with our own dogs, and the puppy we kept from the first litter. They never shed, except when you are brushing them, and they never stink. I know that seems weird, because they spend a lot of time outside, but my little 3 pound tea cup poodle stinks three days after her bath. She only goes outside to go to the bathroom, but our Miniature Bernedoodles never stink! I have no idea why.
